First friends and then colleagues, both moved by the same great passion: that for agriculture. An inclination not common to the young people of today but instead described for Giovanni Di Mambro and Damiano Angelici the right occasion to make space in the world of startups. The two young entrepreneurs, in November 2016, in fact founded Elaisian, a device that thanks to artificial intelligence is able to prevent plant diseases and improvements developed by olive tree cultivation processes.
Precision agriculture and wi-fi connections to save the olive trees: this is the formula adopted by Giovanni Di Mambro (CMO) and Damiano Angelici (CEO) who, thanks to an algorithm, can best advise the producers of olive oil . The advantages are considerable: from cost reduction to significant increase in production, due to important fundamental aspects for a country like Italy where agriculture has a leading role. A precious resource, therefore, above all if we consider that every year we lose about 40% of olive oil production on average because the producers, on their own, are not able to counteract the typical pathologies of these plants. To date Elaisian is massively present on the national territory: as many as 16 Italian regions installed the device, which is installed directly on the plants: on average it can be considered that each individual device covers about 15-20 hectares of land, collecting data on the climatic aspects , plant stress, deficiencies and possible pathogens. The data sent is transmitted via wifi to the web and then the study and processing phase begins. Each producer, therefore, by connecting to the Elaisian platform is able to receive, through notifications or text messages in real time, advice on when, how and where to intervene. For 2019 Giovanni and Damiano plan to expand and consolidate abroad: in the coming months, a new office in Cordoba, Spain, will be updated.
